Drawing board – a firm, flat surface on which your paper or sketchbook is usually held by a clip. You can draw at a table, on your lap or standing outdoors en plein air.

All three Mabef boards are made of pressed natural wood fiber and have a metal clip. The smooth surface gives even support for pencil, charcoal and pen. The board keeps its shape and resists bending, so it copes with everyday carrying.

Technical drawing board or drawing board with clip?

Mabef boards are clipboards – they have no ruler or sliding mechanism. For technical drawings with precise parallel lines, add technical rulers and templates to your board; you’ll find more supplies in the Technical Drawing category.

Frequently asked questions

Which drawing board fits A2 paper?

An A2 sheet (42 × 59.4 cm) fits on the Mabef 60 × 66 cm board with two clips. The ROSA STUDIO sketch board with magnetic clip, measuring 53 × 63 cm, is also explicitly designed for A2.

Does a drawing board bend when you carry it?

Mabef boards are made of pressed wood fiber which, according to the description, keeps its shape and resists bending, so it handles everyday carrying. The 60 × 66 cm board has adjustable shoulder straps for carrying.

Can a drawing board also be used for painting?

The Mabef descriptions mention working with pencil, charcoal and pen, but not painting. The ROSA boards in this collection (both MDF and acrylic glass) are, according to their descriptions, also suitable for watercolor.

How does the clip hold the paper when drawing standing up?
