Fabric paint Pebeo Setacolor Opaque offers excellent coverage and is also water-dilutable. It is especially suitable for use on cotton and other natural or synthetic fabrics (prewashed and clean). You can apply it with a brush, using stencils, stamps, or stamping tools. The individual bright, vivid shades can be mixed together and can also be used without dilution. The paints dry slowly in the air and are dry within 1 hour.
Use: Wash the fabric before applying the paints. This helps prevent damage to the fabric and paint during a later wash. Mix the paint thoroughly before use. After drying for 24 hours and ironing on the reverse side (or on the front through baking paper) for at least 5 min., the paints are resistant to washing at 40°C. Set the iron to the cotton setting.

I’ve painted dozens of T-shirts with this. The fabric stays soft, and the paint doesn’t crack, even after ten washes at 40°C. The Opaque version also covers black cotton.
