DARWI Crackle Varnish

DARWI Crackle Varnish is transparent and water-thinnable. When coated with acrylic paint, it creates cracks, known as a patina, giving the appearance of old, cracked paint. The thickness of the varnish layer affects the size of the cracks. A thicker layer creates larger cracks. It is suitable for these surfaces: paper, cardboard, wood, polystyrene, glass, flower pots, decorative stones, and many others. Create an original mailbox or decorate a door! With a little imagination, furniture, a vase, or a picture frame can become an original piece of art. The varnish can also be used with the decoupage method. Apply it with a brush, and wash the brush in warm water immediately after use. Available in two volumes: 100 ml and 250 ml. Shake the bottle before use.

Instructions for use:

You can apply a base coat to the chosen object, but it is not required. This depends on the color you want under the cracks and whether you are combining crackle with decoupage. If you decide to apply a base coat, wait until it is completely dry. You can use a hair dryer to speed up drying. Then apply the crackle varnish with a brush. The size of the cracks is up to you, but more varnish creates larger cracks. Once the varnish is dry, the drying time depends on how many coats you applied, you have two options. You can coat the object with a final layer of acrylic paint, or place a napkin on it for decoupage. If you choose decoupage, we recommend painting the layer under the varnish a dark color, then painting a light color over the varnish after attaching the napkin. This will make the cracks show through the napkin.

Our tip: Another way to create larger cracks is to apply the varnish in one direction and the top coat of acrylic paint in the opposite direction.
