The edges of the tin aren’t rounded, so they feel a little sharp, but they haven’t hurt my fingers. A little polishing with steel wool helps take off the sharpness. The paint itself is amazing. I found it harder to pick up when it was freshly unwrapped, but once properly activated, it gives off plenty of pigment. This paint works best in layers. The first layer usually soaks into the paper, and it may seem like the paint isn’t very pigmented. But once the first layer leaves a film of gum arabic, the next layer won’t soak in and gives a really beautiful color. I simply love this paint.
I’m just starting with watercolors. I paint with acrylics and oils. It was time to learn something new, so I bought some cheap watercolors and was really frustrated by how hard it was to control the paint. I knew quality paint makes a difference, so I invested in this set. It’s much better. I’ve always liked Rembrandt products and knew this would be good paint. I wasn’t disappointed. I’m very happy with this set, and it’s a pleasure to use.
This is a really beautiful paint! It’s almost transparent on white paper and works best when mixed with darker colors or used over them, or on black watercolor paper. It’s really glittery and shiny. I’d definitely recommend this paint if you’re looking for an iridescent shimmer in your painting!
