This is a great little travel palette, compact but with room for plenty of paint. If you choose the channels that hold rows of half pans, you can fit another row. The mixing area with two enamel wells is enough. All the included colors are useful and high quality, but keep in mind that this is a special retro edition. Yellow ochre and raw umber are too similar for an 8-color travel set, and there’s only one blue. But all 8 colors are worth having, and the pans are easy to replace or refill.
Schmincke is in a league of its own, and these 12 colors are a basic set every professional needs. The colors are incredibly clean and intense.
